6 pm. 3 weeks after the half year mark on Batman's disappearance, on a undisclosed location.
All the top henchmen sat around the table, all looking in the same direction towards the end of the table. There sat a woman, dressed prim and properly, her brown hair in a neat bun, a pair of glasses resting on the bridge of her nose. All in all, from the way the men were acting, someone who entered the room would assume she was the boss, the one who pulled the strings, the capo and leader. Someone assumed wrong. Because it was not the woman sitting at the end of the conference table, looking so powerful, prim and proper that was the boss. It wasn't her the eyes of the men assembled were resting on. No, it was the small girl laying on her stomach on top of the table, playing with her dolly, humming to herself. It was HER they were all looking at. Why? Because she was their boss, she was Baby Doll, and they adored her.
Every last man in the room believed she was going to lead them to the top, to ensure their fortune. Every last man in the room liked her personality, her charisma, her fire. She was a woman with ambitions, and they were her loyal subjects. Words and charisma, personality and wit can bring one far in life, and Baby Doll had them all in spades. She was simply that kind of person. And she had called them all here, because she had something to discuss with them. And it was important.
Baby Doll looked up at everyone around the table, every last of her top henchmen. She giggled as she stood. She then cleared her throat, and every trace of the sweet little girl who had played with her dolly were gone, before them stood the woman she really was, the woman trapped in the body of a child. “Okay Everyone, I've called you here, because I wanted to discuss something with you. The Joker is on the move, he is planning something, and it's something big. I want to know what he is up to, but I don't want to loose anyone of my boys..what should we do?” She asked as she looked out over her men.
The men mumbled among each other, looking at each other as they went over the different possibilities. After about twenty minutes of discussion one of them stood, speaking up. "Ehm, Miss Doll..perhaps we could set some snoops on the case..private detectives..if we set some on the Clown's tail, they can rat him out to the police and generally screw up his business?" One of them suggested. Baby Doll looked at him, starting to smile. "Yes..I think that could work..anyone has any ideas or know some snoops we can contact?" She asked, one of her men nodding. "Yeah..I've heard of this fella, Trickster or something..all we need is someone who can go talk to him" Baby Doll chuckled, smiling. "Don't worry, I know someone" She said, smiling a bit.
Two hours later, someone knocked on the door to Tonio's office, apparently the fox had a visitor at his den.

9pm 3 weeks after the half year mark on Batman's disappearance, Trickster's office.
Tonio had his eyes on one of his old notebooks. Every page was written in, papers were also stuffed in between pages. All in all, it looked like it was ready to explode with pages when closed. But the old thing held up pretty well. The office was small and there was nothing really to make it stand out. No photographs of family nor friends, nothing to indicate a personal or private life. He hadn't been expecting a knock on his door this late, in fact he was surprised to have still been here. Normally he would've been heading home at this point. However, he must've lost track of time.
"Coming." Tonio called out, only loud enough for his voice to reach the knocker at the door.
Standing up, he pushed the chair out from behind himself. He closed the notebook and placed it into the shoulder page he always had. Once it was in the bag, he started to head over to the door. The cane was already in hand as he walked over there. Opening the door, Tonio's gaze went to the knocker.
"Yes?" Tonio said as his gaze went to the knocker.

Outside his door stood a woman, prim and proper in appearance, her brown hair set in a neat bun, her sand colored jacket buttoned properly and the gray scarf around her neck wrapped neatly. She wore a black skirt that went to about her knees and on her arm rested a young girl with blond hair set up in nice curls, a purple dress under her own dark blue jacket. It was a cold night in Gotham after all. The woman looked at him with a distressed expression on her face, the girl looking slightly uncomfortable and yet curious about the strange man before her. The woman then cleared her throat before she spoke. “Is this..is this the Trickster's office?” she asked a little insecurely. “And if so..m..may I come in?” she asked politely.[/font]
The girl on her arm, her daughter most likely, looked at the man with her wide and curious eyes, a innocent six year old who was with her mommy in a new and strange part of Gotham city, of course she wasn't feeling too secure about the situation, what child would? She only looked away from the strange man to look up at her mommy, then back at him, as if curious and unsure what they two of them was seeking out this man for.

His gaze had found the source of the knocking, although the child's stare at him was a bit surprising. Tonio took a step to the side so the woman would be able to enter. He made a gesture with his arm that showed she could enter. Course, he spoke as well just in case she didn't see it.
"You may." Trickster said. "Take a seat wherever you like."
He stood by the door until the woman entered the room along with her child. It surprised him that someone would bring a child with them to talk to a private detective. Certainly was a first for him. He had helped people out that had their own children, but never did they actually bring their child with them here. Oh well. There was a first for everything. Once they were seated, he would close the door and make his way to his desk, only to sit in the chair and turn his attention to them completely.
"I am Trickster." Tonio said as he put his arms on the desk and folded them. "How may I help you two?"

The woman nodded with a grateful expression before she stepped inside the office, finding somewhere to sit she sat down, looking around with mild curiosity, the child in her arms looking around with quite a lot more curiosity and wonder than her mother. Once the woman was seated and had looked around briefly she looked at Tonio, still slightly nervous.
“Well..I should probably start at the beginning. My name is Evaleen Charleston, and my husband works as a construction worker. A couple months ago, My husband started earning more money than usual. At first I was happy, but when he began showing up with bruises I started getting worried.. then, a couple days ago, I found the clown make-up..” Evaleen bit her lower lip, fighting back a little sob. “I...I think he has joined Joker's gang..I..a friend of mine told me about you, that you're one of the best. Please Mr Trickster..I need your help...I fear the Joker is up to something, because Frank has been pulling later and later shifts, even though there isn't more work at the construction site than usual...I want to hire you to find out what is going on, and, if you find enough, alert the police so that psychopath can be put behind bars, and my husband can be safe”
The woman sighed, breathing in deeply in order to calm down herself, her hands still shaking as her daughter looked up at her. “Mommy? Is ev'rythin' okay?” she asked in her childish voice, a worried look on her face. Evaleen nodded, running her fingers through her hair. “Yes yes my dear..Mommy is alright..”
She then turned her gaze towards Tonio, “Please Mr Trickster..money won't be a problem, I'll find a way to pay somehow, but please..help me stop that monster, and save not only my husband, but many other innocents as well..”

Tonio listened and showed that he was. His last case involved the penguin, not he was going to be snooping on a more dangerous ground. The Joker's ground. The situation sort of explained why she had brought her daughter with her. However...wouldn't the daughter be confused and most likely worried about her father? Either the girl was too young to really understand the situation...or...
"I'll help." Tonio said. "Don't worry about payment. Giving you your husband back will be payment enough, he has a family to look after and that's where he should be. Granted, I can see he was only trying to provide for you two and that's what's got him in this mess. Are you having trouble paying any bills? Any reason at all why there would be a need for a rise in income?"

Evaleen caressed her daughters hair before looking at Tonio once more as he spoke. It took her a moment to process what he had said before she smiled gratefully, tearing up. “Thank you..thank you so much Mr Trickster!” She then paused for a moment, muling over his question before nodding. “Protection money mostly..we couldn't afford to live in a safer neighbourhood. He always wanted to get us out of there, get us to uptown..but, our new landlord hasn't been too kind either..Frank had plenty of reasons..but..but I don't understand, why Joker?” she asked, as if Trickster held some mysterious answer.
The little girl looked up at Trickster with a worried expression on her face, or as worried as a six year old could be. “Is daddy in trouble, mister policeman?” She asked as she held around her mother's arm. Genuine worry on her face. Clearly she thought Tonio was some kind of officer of the law, worrying about her father.

Makes sense. No neighborhood is safe. But uptown does have a bit more safety than downtown. Central....hard to say. It's sometimes worse than both but not really better than either. Tonio thought to himself.
"What part of Gotham do you live in? Down town or central?" Tonio asked, he thought over the question he was given. "Joker is....a bit more extreme than most villains. He's willing to pull off any kind of crime that he can most certainly do something with. Plus, he's one of the hardest ones to capture. Making whatever crime he does have some sort of pay off in the end. Considering Batman was the only one able to actually capture the Crown Prince of Crime, as he has dubbed himself along with other names I'm sure you know. The police have a harder time catching him and detaining him. While all the crime lords and villains of Gotham City are dangerous, Joker is....one of the worst."
His attention was captured by the daughter asking him a question. Looking at her, he listened to what she asked. Him? A policeman? A hound that was only good at chasing his partner's tail and his partner chasing thin air? No. He was a fox. A lone fox that willing went after the wolves that could devour him and tricked them. Playing with their cold hearted savagery to help the deer.
"Your daddy will be fine, I know I don't look it but I'll find him for you and your mother." Tonio said. "Although I'm not with the police department. I'm a Private Investigator. Unlike the police, I can go further than they can per-say. See, citizens like your mother who have a problem and think that police can't handle it, come to people who share my line of work."

Evaleen nodded as she looked at Tonio, it was obvious that while she did not like what she heard, it did make a kind of sense why her husband would choose to work for the Joker. It was horrible that he was in the situation he was and he couldn't have chosen much worse, but at the same time, it made at least a little bit of sense. Evaleen's eyes teared up again, the woman pulling forth a handkerchief, drying her eyes with one hand, the other holding her daughter closely against her as the girl looked up at Tonio, listening to his words.
It was pretty clear she didn't understand much of what he said, but the reassurance about her father's safety made her smile a little bit. She hugged her mother's arm gently, as if it was a teddy bear as she looked up at Tonio. After a moment she spoke though, a smile on her face. “So your a supah herro! You an Gween arro will safe my daddy?” She said, seemingly very happy two superheroes were going to save her daddy.

Well, that was the first time he had been called that. He didn't know if Green Arrow was actually around. He hadn't seen nor heard of the hero in a while. In fact, he hadn't seen nor heard of ANY heroes in a long while. It's as if they all decided to take a vacation or disappear. However, instead of telling her that she was still wrong. He decided to play along in a way.
"I'm not sure if I'm a super hero but I do believe that Green Arrow might already be on the case. If I see him, I'll make sure to ask him for his aid." Tonio said. "That sound alright?"

The small girl looked up at him, her smile widening for each word he spoke. It was clear she had a hard time containing her childish joy over the fact that, in her eyes and belief, two superheroes were looking for her daddy, coming to save him from bad men. In a way, that had to be a lot of children's dream, to meet and interact with heroes, their idols and of whom they were all very great fans. Thus, at his question she nodded rapidly, giggling.
Evaleen sighed a little, but smiled as she ruffled her daughter's hair before looking back up at Tonio, a soft smile on her face. “Thank you Mr Trickster, for everything.” She then stood up, extending her hand towards him. “We have to be on our way now, you have to get back to work or get home for some well deserved sleep I can imagine.” She said with a smile.

Tonio smiled a bit when the daughter was giggling at his question. He used to be a happy kid at one point didn't he? Yes. He was at one point. In fact, he was closest to his father than anyone else in the family. So, that was why it hurt him so badly when the hounds refused to help him and his father ended up as a living target full of holes. Hearing the daughter's mother, he looked up at her and nodded. Extending a hand of his own and shaking hers.
"Take care. I'll start on the case soon so there's no worries." Tonio said as he shock her hand.

Evaleen smiled, nodding as they shook hands. She really was grateful, that much was obvious from her expression. ”Thank you, Mr Trickster, I wish you the best of luck.” She said before opening the door. ”Say goodbye to the nice man sweetheart” she then said to her daughter, the little girl waving her hand at Tonio. ”Goodbye mister supah Herro!” she said, smiling widely to him, her mother giving Tonio time to reply before she closed the door, walking down the stairs and out onto the street. She then stepped into her car and drove off.
Inside the car the woman smiled down to her boss who was sitting next to her, a wide smile on her face. “Well, that went well all in all.” She said, smirking a little. Baby Doll nodded as she giggled. “That's one more to mess with the Joker..and well done Samantha, you were perfect!” Baby Doll said as they drove. “Thank you miss, your performance was impeccable too.” The two of them then simply smiled as they drove off, back to base.

"Goodbye." Tonio said to the daughter before the two disappeared.
Putting his finger tips together, Tonio stared at nothing it seemed. His gaze seemed directed to the door but he really wasn't looking at it. He was just losing himself to thoughts.
The daughter only seemed to be worried when I started to notice that she wasn't. Tonio thought in his head. I wonder....what exactly have I thrown myself into this time?
A good question but one that could be solved by just sitting here. His two guest may or may not have noticed, but a security camera was hiding upon one of the shelves. Mostly hidden from view by a first glance, but nothing was in the way of it. Rising from his chair, he went over to the TV and took out a tape. He glanced at it for a moment and sighed.
"Can't believe I'm going to go to him." Tonio muttered, grabbing his shoulder bag, he placed the tape in it and headed out.
The meeting was strange, it just didn't feel right for that kind of a case. True, he couldn't tell what made it strange. Maybe it was the girl's late reaction? Well, going to a certain hound would reveal a thing or two.
