Overall
"Who do I think I am? Good question, really, and I'll answer like this: I've seen too much to be Robin, but I'm still too optimistic to be Batman. I'm Nightwing, and I'm happy."
Name: Richard "Dick" Grayson
Code Name: Nightwing
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Birth Date: March 21st
Affiliation: Batman Family
Occupation: Vigilante, Owner of The Haley Circus
Age Looks: Early twenties
Appearance:
Standing at 5'10 and weighing at 175 pounds, Dick Grayson is at peak form. Due to his training as an acrobat and training from the Dark Knight himself, Dick's body seems like it was chiseled from stone, with his body composed of nothing but pure muscle. His head is topped off by charcoal black hair, and his eyes shine with a deep ocean blue color. In his civilian clothing, Dick is often seen wearing a blue or black hoodie, jeans, and sneakers. In Nightwing mode, his body is covered in a fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and it's also electrically insulated. Instead of a black cape for stealth, the suit is light sensitive, darkening when there is more light in the area. The current costume has a stylized blue "wing" across his shoulders and extending to his hands, coloring his two middle fingers, over a black torso and legs. Nightwing's costume is tailored specifically to his unique style of crime-fighting.
Personality:
Dick Grayson is commonly seen as a brave and righteous hero with an indomitable sense of justice and responsibility. Shaken by his parents' tragic death, Nightwing's vow of responsibility has led him to a path of heroism and humanitarian service. There are times when Dick's sense of responsibility can be almost overbearing. This combined with his strong moral compass in the face of adversity and sharp wit make him one of the most iconic and enduring heroes in Gotham City. One of Nightwing's most prominent traits is his sense of humor. Even at the face of certain death, Dick invariably cracks a joke, to the annoyance of both friends and foes. His reasons for this vary: either he wants to relieve the stress of a situation or simply because he wants to hide how scared he really is during a crisis. It is generally agreed, however, that whenever Nightwing stops making jokes, he will take the current situation with the utmost seriousness.
Dick's camaraderie is something to envy. Batman has made a career of being a loner, and has never been one to spend unnecessary time among his peers. Nightwing may have learned everything he knows from Batman, but he never lost his ability to connect with the outside world. With numerous relationships and friendships among the superhero community, Nightwing is the buddy every hero wants to have, especially if you are getting into some trouble. Just like every man in the Wayne Family, Dick is a smooth talker, no doubt about it. Of course, he does it in a way that reflects his morals and is less sleazy than some other guys he knows. With that being said, he has an impressive list of ex’s dotting his resume.
Even being the nice guy that he is, there are a few things that can tick off Dick. First off is anything that threatens his friends, and more importantly, his family. He had already lost the Graysons, and will go to any lengths to protect his new adoptive family. From his father, Bruce, to his siblings to his butler Alfred; Dick loves them to death and is prepared to risk it all for their safety. Next, he doesn't take failures well. To him, a failure meant a lost life, and Dick's seen too many of those in his life, hence why he patrols the streets as one of its protectors.

Background:
Richard "Dick" Grayson was born on the first day of spring to John and Mary Grayson. His mother nicknamed him "little Robin", and little did she know how prophetic this term of endearment would be in her son's life. He was an eight years old, half-gypsy circus acrobat, the youngest of a family act called The Flying Graysons of The Haley Circus. Dick joined the act at a very young age, having been trained in acrobatics from birth. While on tour in Gotham City, he overheard "Boss" Anthony Zucco, a well-known and feared crime-lord, threaten the performers unless the circus's owner paid extortion money. The owner refused, and that night Dick watched in horror as his parents' high wire snapped, sending them hurtling to their deaths, all while many of Gotham's elite watched on. Young Dick felt responsible, because he didn't warn his parents in time.
Shortly after the tragedy, the millionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne rescued Dick from an uncaring juvenile services system. Frustrated by the lack of attention from his new guardian and the mystery still surrounding his parents' death, Grayson sneaked out of Wayne Manor one evening to solve the crime on his own - only to stumble into Batman, who was also investigating the murder. They succeed in revealing Zucco´s complicity, but he died of a heart attack before his arrest. Seeing a reflection of himself in Dick; first as a prodigious athlete with keen detective skills and most importantly that young Grayson could temper compassion with a thirst for justice, Batman not only revealed his identity as Bruce Wayne to the boy, but also made the young orphan the offer of a lifetime; the chance to become his crime-fighting partner. Grayson chose the name Robin, and his training began.
Batman and Robin kept the streets of Gotham safe from crime and villainy. Dick had even started to do solo missions, finding out that he was coming along well. Soon enough, Dick realized at that point that he had grown up. He no longer relied on Batman and he and the Dark Knight disagreed on crime-fighting methodology. Dick's new found independence left less time for his former commitments in Gotham City. Dick rediscovered his self-worth among the citizens of Gotham, however, Batman was less than pleased. He informed Grayson that if he no longer wanted to be his partner, then Dick would have to retire as Robin. Furious, hurt, resigned, and confused, 18 year old Dick Grayson left Wayne Manor.
With Alfred's help, Dick got an apartment in Bludhaven, Gotham's sister city. Grayson, uncertain to what to do with his new-found independence, and for very briefly, Dick had considered giving up the whole crime fighting gig; but he couldn't imagine his life any other way. But if he couldn't be Robin, who would he be? Sitting down with Alfred, Dick revealed that about not wanting to become Batman. That wasn't the way he wanted to a hero, on the fact that Dick already recognized that, if he continued being a superhero, he didn't want to be the 'Next Batman'. Alfred then suggested that the young man sit down and really think about what he wanted to do, as Gotham still needed more protectors. While mulling it over, Dick remembered that his father's moniker of "Nightwing" for his outfit and dazzling outfit. Deciding to keep on being a hero, Dick then decided to honor his father by renaming himself Nightwing. It took a while, but eventually Bruce came to accept Dick's independence, and was proud of the former Robin's ascension to adulthood. Soon, the mantle of Robin went to Jason Todd, then to Tim Drake, who became his adoptive siblings. As Nightwing, Dick continues to patrol the streets of Gotham. With Batman's strange disappearance occurring, Dick puts in double efforts to keep Gotham a safe place in the Dark Knight's absence.

Sample RP:
It's always known that Dick likes falling...
The sensation of gravity pulling downwards, not the abrupt stop that usually follows. If anyone asked, he wouldn't admit it to them, but sometimes he'll suggest going out on patrol just to fall and flit in the small pockets of air between the giant buildings that are equally likely to kill him just as much as the concrete plains below. All it would take is a small mistake--a misplaced step, an unbalanced dismount, an ill-timed swing...
He supposes he would know what could make you alive in the air and dead on the ground better than anyone. When he was Robin, his mom's Robin, he wanted to be in the air more than anything. To be on top, at the zenith of his ascent to the vertex of the tent, and see the rings below. When he was Robin, Bruce's Robin, he wanted to stay on the ground more than anything. To stay rooted, anchored to the path that Batman gave him, where he could see clearly what traps and pitfalls any higher aspirations of revenge would lead him.
But he is not Robin anymore, neither Bruce's nor the Flying Graysons'...
He's Nightwing, and right now, he wants to stay in the middle, gliding between both extremes in a free fall that should end darkly. The adrenaline pumps through him as he stares at the quickly approaching ground, orange sunset light nearly blinding him and the beat of wings deafening as birds startle. The high-rises and streets and cars and noise of Gotham fade until it's just the singular point below him and the rush of air as he pierces through it. No matter how often he does this, it's that familiar feeling--the one where his stomach simultaneously becomes a hard, uncomfortable weight in his center and loosens to spread throughout his body--that has him addicted to falling.
